New updates regarding the Zen Nixie clock are here!

Aluminum parts surface finish

I just received first small batch of tube bases from Adruu, Netherlands based company specialised in surface treatments of aluminum parts. The results is amazing – uniform surface, very nice satin texture. The bases are bead blasted first, then bright dipped and eventually anodized to final color. Special thanks to Adruu’s commercial director Joran van Bussel for very very kind attitude in whole process of this order!

The bases will be available in Silver, Champagne gold and black finish. Case aluminum stand, nixie tube bases and colon tube bases will have the same matching finish.

New board revision

New board revision prototype is finished, major changes:

  • presence of RGB underlighting (which can be controlled online).
  • parts from top of the board were moved to bottom to clean up the board

The boards will all be black/gold, this green is for prototyping only.

Colon tubes

Here are some pictures of the colon tubes which are in development as well. The aluminum base matches the nixie tube base in height and material. The height of the colons and internal structure will be different to match the nixie tubes. Colon tubes on the photo are prototypes, not actual size/look!

Do you plan a first edition numbering for the first ten complete clocks? Like engraving the base or numbering the first ten boards….
